More information about Great-great-great-great-great-grandpa brew 2
He is the forefather of all Hertl brewers, the root of my passion for barley juice and a true legend in the Hertl family: my great-great-great-great-great-grandpa Herttel. The brewer from Nuremberg lived in the late Middle Ages and not only supplied Nuremberg's bratwurst roasters with the finest beer. The great-great-grandfather Herttel was a member of Mendel's House of Twelve Brothers and can be found in the first Mendel house book. His portrait shows him brewing at the kettle: he is stirring the beer, next to him are wooden buckets with other ingredients. But anyone who thinks that my great-ancestor is the best thing about this beer doesn't know me very well.
Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Ur-Opa is not only a tribute to an early Hertl, but also the renaissance of a long-forgotten beer style. The fine brew was created in cooperation with the Oppel natural bakery and is a historic bread beer brewed with real malt bread.

In 2013, he went into business for himself and opened his own brewery, Braumanufaktur. He discovered his passionate interest in brewing as a teenager. His first beer experiments in his mother's kitchen led to the former pigsty on his parents' farm being converted into a miniature brewery. Today, the charismatic young brewer already produces around 80 hectoliters of the finest beer on 80 square meters, and the trend is rising: a new brewhouse and further equipment are to boost production strongly, as demand for David Hertl's barley juice specialties...
