Hops for gin, malt for genever or liqueur - that sounds plausible. But to macerate ingredients such as sauerkraut, liverwurst, blood sausage and ham, which are served up on the famous German slaughter platter, in potato spirit and then distill them with a large piece of smoked ham in the aroma basket does take some getting used to.
But taste-wise, this is a feast, and in addition to juniper, it's mustard seeds, black pepper, coriander and dill seeds that accompany the smoky ham flavor.
And to our Funky Gin tastes then also the ham buttery soft after several hours of distillation.
