More information about Snowy Owl Marlene Original Berliner Weisse
Marlene is the original mother of all Berliner Weisse - at least in terms of taste and the sophisticated range from the Schneeeule brewery. Master brewer Ulrike Genz has gone to great lengths to breathe new life into the Berlin classic. She painstakingly collected leftover bottles of old examples of the beer style and extracted the yeasts from them. The time-honored yeasts were brought back to life and used as the basis for Ulrike's very own Original Berliner Weisse.
The result is a beer that harks back to the heyday of Berliner Weisse. And by that we don't mean the era when the beer was drunk mixed with syrup, but the time before that, when the crisp sour beer was still appreciated for its unusual character. To give the beer a worthy name, Ulrike chose the title of a Berlin icon: Marlene Dietrich. It is worth knowing that the Schneeeule brewery's range includes both Marlene and Dietrich. Marlene is the Berliner Weisse advertised here in its pure form, while Dietrich is the aged version of Marlene, which has matured to its aromatic splendor over the course of a year.
Marlene presents itself in a pale yellow color and wears a fleeting crown of delicate, white foam on its head. A fine aroma of yoghurt, green apple and good fruit vinegar rises to the nose and combines with a hint of dill and subtle citrus notes to create a seductive composition. The aftertaste follows the first impression and delights with its wonderful acidity, fresh citrus fruitiness and champagne-like perlage.

Snowy Owl
Berliner Weisse is Ulrike Genz's favorite beer and the reason she started brewing in the first place. As a Berliner, it was and still is her desire to give good, traditional beer back to her hometown. With a lot of heart and craft, she has built up the Schneeeule label and brews wonderfully refreshing beer in a one-woman process and fine creations like Schampus Weiß Vintage, which was created in cooperation with Bayerischer Bahnhof and Freigeist Bierkultur. Snowy Owl Ulrike came up with these unusual names while taking a closer look at the Berliner Weisse: Crowned by white foam, the beer shines in bright light yellow. Yellow and white are also the dominant colors of the snowy owl, yellow eyes on white feathers. Ulrike also liked the three consecutive E's in the name, an eye-catcher, just like the monochrome labels with the large owl spreading its wings. Extraordinary is the name of...
