More information about Red beer

Red beer is a specialty that is brewed in different regions The two capitals of red beer are Roeselare in Belgium and Nuremberg in Germany While the eponymous red color of Belgian red beer is the result of maturing in wooden barrels and the taste of these beers has both fruity and sour notes, the Franconian version borrows its strong copper hue from special barley malt and its taste is made up of a wealth of cereal notes Almost 200 years before the Bavarian Purity Law was passed, a law was passed in Nuremberg that stipulated brewing exclusively with barley and in the Middle Ages many breweries opted for a regional malt variety with a fine red hue

Just under an hour's drive north-east of Nuremberg is Neuhaus an der Pegnitz This small market town is currently home to around 3,000 inhabitants and a brewery named after the Veldensteiner Forst Veldensteiner has a wide range of Bavarian and Franconian beer classics, including the Veldensteiner Rotbier and the Veldensteiner Rotbier.

Veldensteiner red beer has already received numerous international awards and is also very popular outside the Nuremberg region.
