Which vodka to buy? You are offered these options

If you want to buy delicious vodka, you've come to the right place. A large selection of high-quality and tasty varieties offers you enough variety to buy the right vodka for every taste. Alongside rum, gin and whisky, vodka is one of the classic spirits that are enjoyed straight, but above all find their way into the most diverse cocktails in the world.

Large range of vodka

You can find many different types of vodka in our range. We offer you many smaller producers and brands that place particular emphasis on quality and exceptional aromas. You can therefore choose from a huge selection and always discover new aromas and new flavors.

Vodka is not boring, but can be enormously diverse - it is a fallacy that the high-proof "water" always tastes the same and does nothing but burn in the mouth. Immerse yourself in the exciting world of vodka and discover the possibilities.

A look at the history of vodka

The name vodka is derived from the traditional vodka, which roughly means "little water" in Polish. Vodka is also much closer to the Russian term.

It was only contact with the West that changed and internationalized the word. Today, the term vodka is used outside the countries of the former Eastern Bloc. If you want to buy vodka, you don't care about the spelling, of course. It's all about really good taste.

What are the differences between the various types of vodka?

If you want to enjoy a delicious and tasty vodka, you can choose between many different products. Among other things, the raw materials from which it is made play a role. If you want to buy vodka, you should at least have an idea of how the raw materials affect the taste.

Vodka made from rye - the traditional one

Rye is the traditional raw material for the production of vodka. If you want to try such a vodka, you can look forward to a rather sweet and mild aroma, as the rye gives the vodka an amazing mildness. The slight sweetness in the vodka is also due to the rye. If you want to drink a traditional vodka, you should therefore look for one based on rye.

Vodka made from wheat - a cheap alternative

Vodka made from wheat is mostly produced in North America. Wheat was chosen because it was cheaper in price and also easier to split. The quality differs only slightly from vodka made from rye.

Vodka made from potatoes - a special flavor

Potatoes are also a fairly inexpensive raw material for the production of vodka. Thanks to modern distillation processes, good vodka can now be made from potatoes. However, if you want to buy a potato-based vodka, you can expect a rather heavy and distinctive-tasting vodka.

Vodka made from molasses - inferior raw materials

Molasses is a by-product of sugar production and is found in large quantities, particularly in the Caribbean. Molasses is often used in the production of rum. However, vodka can also be distilled from molasses. However, the raw material is not only cheap, but also often of inferior quality.

The taste of the vodka based on it is very sweet due to the high sugar content. Vodka made from molasses is usually produced industrially and sold extremely cheaply.

Buy infused vodka and flavored vodka

While attempts are made to keep the aroma of traditional vodka as neutral as possible by filtering it very often, the trend is moving in a different direction. Flavor-infused vodka or vodka with different flavors is becoming more and more fashionable. If you would like to buy such vodka, you will find many attractive varieties from smaller producers in Germany and abroad in our range. You should also pay attention to the alcohol content when ordering. There can be considerable differences here, which are reflected less in the taste than in the effect.

How much does a liter of vodka cost?

It is not easy to name the price of a liter of vodka. The range of prices for vodka is enormous.

From cheap vodka with prices of around 10 euros to vodka varieties with a price per liter of well over 100 euros, the choice is huge.

When it comes to vodka, it always depends on the occasion for which the vodka is required. For pure enjoyment, it makes more sense to invest a little more money, as high-quality vodka will always have a better taste.

Vodka neat or in a long drink?

You literally have to learn how to enjoy vodka. Traditionally, it is actually enjoyed neat. This can be unfamiliar to the untrained palate at first. Although vodka lacks its own core flavor, the drink is quite strong.

The traditional tasting method is a good guide here. In Russia and Poland, vodka is also drunk straight, but is often accompanied by small treats. Salty gherkins or salty brown bread with butter in particular are an excellent accompaniment and neutralize its sharpness. Especially if you want to enjoy vodka neat, you should buy a high-quality drop.

In the western world, vodka is primarily known as an ingredient in long drinks. Here, the drinker can control the strength of the cocktail without actively interfering with the taste of the drink. Nevertheless, you can change the taste of the drink by choosing the variety. Simply vary vodka made from different ingredients to discover the different flavors of a cocktail. Vodka made from rye gives off a completely different aroma than one made from molasses, for example.

Vodka with food - vodka harmonizes perfectly with these dishes

Vodka is traditionally served with food in Russia and many other countries in Eastern Europe. The usual drink size is 0.1 liters, which is significantly larger than our shots

The food served tends to be rather sour. Sour cucumbers, sour fruit or even warm dishes with a sour base note harmonize perfectly with the strength of the vodka and soften it. As the vodka is consumed in large quantities on such occasions, but over a long period of time, the food also helps to avoid getting excessively drunk.
