Blomendahl

We are a so-called "Craft Distillery" and have locations in Cape Town, South Africa and in Visbek, Germany. All our spirits are handcrafted, exclusively in small batches and using selected, mainly organically grown ingredients.
Our master distiller and company owner Franz J. Blomendahl, is a well-known figure in the European wine and spirits industry. His talent, knowledge, and creativity are reflected in all our products.

Our spirits are among the best in South Africa and have been awarded numerous gold and platinum medals. We are one of the few distilleries in the world that still make their spirits from scratch. Every single step of the process - from the recipe, cultivation and distillations to bottling. We produce premium spirits in harmony with nature. Our philosophy is to produce spirits that are so pure, smooth and balanced in taste that they stand on their own, so good and of such high quality that they can be enjoyed neat.

We achieve the unusual smoothness of our spirits by, among other things, using our own mountain spring water and by distilling our base 6 times.
We place great emphasis on using select, organically grown ingredients of the highest quality, most of which we grow ourselves in our fields.

Products: Blomendahl Gin (Michelangelo Double Gold Medal 2020), Blomendahl Apple Liqueur (Michelangelo Gold 2020) and "Alter Schwede" - a historic herbal liqueur with a growing following of connoisseurs in Europe and South Africa. The liqueur has been produced since 1882 according to a nearly 400-year-old recipe by the Kohlhoff distillery in Osnabrück, which has been part of the Blomendahl Group since 1993. Alter Schwede is also still produced on a whiskey basis in our distillery in Visbek. We thus offer 2 variants.
