No 400 Piedmont hazelnut spirit

Contacting our Piedmontese organic farmer was not easy: despite several phone calls and emails, nothing came back. When we translated the emails into Italian, everything went very quickly - so it was just the language barrier. He couldn't do anything with English. And what luck: the hazelnuts from this area of northern Italy are known to be among the best in the world and we were able to discover that too.

After extensive and lengthy roasting in our manufactory, maceration and slow distillation, we were able to taste an unadulterated hazelnut spirit with an incomparable aroma that we have never seen before: the nut nougat notes stand alongside fine roasted aromas and slightly sweet hints, which are integrated into a slightly buttery and fatty consistency that is very soft in the mouth and on the finish. And all of this is achieved without any further embellishing additives or barrel ageing, as is all too often the case with this product. Apart from water to bring it down to drinking strength, nothing adulterating is added to our spirit before or after distillation.

Its most important aroma component is filbertone (5-methylhept-2-en-4-one), the smell of which can be detected even in the smallest quantities. All we can say here is: enjoy - whether neat, with dessert or in a cocktail!
