More information about ILLIMANI Coffee INCA Dark Roast Organic Espresso Beans

This 100% organic Arabica coffee is traditionally grown and harvested by the indigenous people in the Bolivian Andes at an altitude of 1400 to 1600 meters.

This is a dark roasted 100% Arabica single origin espresso. The "Inca Dark Beans" are full-bodied with strong roasted aromas, a light cocoa note and little acidity.

Preparation:

Ideally suited for use in portafilter machines and fully automatic machines. In addition to the classic espresso, very good for preparing capuccino, ristretto and lungo.

The coffee is fairly traded and organically grown.

Climate, soil and roasting result in a tasty coffee. The coffee received organic certification back in 1997.

Origin:

Bolivia, highlands (altitude 1400-1600m) Caranavi, Yungas

Producers and direct trade:

We receive the coffee directly from the importer. The importer has been working in partnership with Bolivian coffee farmers for over 28 years. The farmers call up the price for their harvest independently of the world market price. This is approximately double the average world market price.

Cultivation:

Inca and Andean coffee grows in the Yungas in Bolivia. This area is the most important coffee region in Bolivia and is about 6 hours' drive from La Paz and is subtropical and humid.

The coffee is cultivated in mixed crops in the shade. The cooperatives plant the coffee bushes between the natural vegetation and native crops such as mangoes, bananas and other tropical fruits. This type of planting has the advantage that no pesticides are needed.

Mixed cultivation not only counteracts the proliferation of pests, but also guarantees a sustainable approach to nature.

On the other hand, the tall trees and other plants provide the shade that the coffee plants need to guarantee a consistently high quality harvest.

Processing:

The beans are processed in Zwolle, the Netherlands, in a roasting plant specializing in top-quality coffee using a gentle, slow drum roasting process.
