Lemon Drop Martini
The tangy Lemon Drop Martini became popular for its sweet and sour taste and bright yellow color. The cocktail, which is served in an iconic sugar-rimmed glass, has gathered a famous fan base over the years. Stars such as Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga are known to indulge in a Lemon Drop Martini or two.
While its exact origins are disputed, it is widely believed that the Lemon Drop Martini originated in the 1970s or 1980s during the modern cocktail renaissance in the United States.
Lemon Drop Martini recipe

- 12cl vodka
- 4 cl triple sec (alternatively: orange liqueur)
- 4-5 cl fresh lemon juice
- 6 cl sugar syrup
- sugar
- 1 lemon wedge
- 2 lemon zests

- Moisten the rim of 2 chilled martini glasses with the lemon wedge. Place the sugar on a plate. Dip the moistened glasses in sugar.
- Pour all the liquid ingredients into a shaker.

Where does the name of the cocktail come from?
The name of the cocktail is a reference to the iconic lemon-flavored sweets that bear the same name: Lemon Drops. These sweets are sweet with a tart twist, just like the cocktail itself. The Lemon Drop Martini captures the essence of this candy and offers a balanced combination of sweetness and tartness with a hint of citrus.
