Renwood Winery

Renwood Winery Logo

Surrounded by the oldest Zinfandel vineyards in the U.S., Renwood Winery is picturesquely located in charming Amador County, California, which is called "Gold County" not only for its history in the California Gold Rush, but also for its rolling hills and refreshing streams.

Here in the Sierra Foothills, the first settlers also began planting the first Zinfandel vineyards during the great Gold Rush around 1850. Renwood's bare-root vineyards are sometimes up to 110 years old. They yield enormously concentrated grapes and are transformed by cellarmaster Joe Shebl into gorgeous wines that are among the best Zinfandels in the world.

One example: In a Zinfandel tasting by the "Wine Spectator" (12/2000 issue), the wines from Renwood were in the top three places, leaving all competitors far behind. The wren adorns the winery's logo. In a fairy tale, the wren is crowned king of the birds for its ingenuity and creativity - qualities that Renwood has always placed above pure strength and greatness.
