In the series of excellent beers from AND UNION named after days of the week, there are two lagers: Thursday and Saturday. Both are characterized by their excellent taste, the difference is in the complexity. While Saturday is a relaxed, fluffy lager, Thursday inspires with depth, strong roasted character and its wonderful dark color.
Thursday is a Dark Lager and accordingly presents itself in an opaque mahogany hue. When the light hits it, the body shimmers ruby red, with a fine veil of lightly tinted foam perched atop the beer. An enticing aroma of roasted malt, caramelized nuts, dark wild berries and candied orange peel rises to the nose and makes your mouth water. The initial drink reveals a surprisingly light-bodied finish that you wouldn't expect, either visually or olfactorically. Before the hops come into play, however, it's the malt's turn: subtle notes of powerfully roasted malt caress the palate and tantalize the taste buds with aromas of oven-fresh bread crust, toasted hazelnuts and freshly picked wild berries. Then the hops come into play, serving up a finish that is light and playful. Fresh, juicy and quaffable citrus notes mingle with a crisp hop bitterness and a hint of chocolate for a finish that makes you want to drink the next bottle right away.
