More information about Nothelfer Vierzehnheiligener Pils
Pilsner is a Czech invention and yet it has to be said that the Franconians have made this beer style their own Franconia is a melting pot of beer diversity and has been for thousands of years So it's no wonder that the Franconians also put their very own stamp on the classic from our neighboring country
One of our favorite Franconian pilsners comes from the Trunk brewery The former monastery brewery is located directly behind the Vierzehnheiligen pilgrimage church near Bad Staffelstein and offers a down-to-earth selection of real Franconians Their interpretation of a pilsner is a classic version with a mild character, full-bodied aroma and great freshness
The Franconian-Czech specialty is called Nothelfer Pils and looks just like a picture-book beer in the glass: A firm crown of white, dense-pored foam sits enthroned on a shiny, crystal-clear golden body, with small bubbles of tirelessly rising carbon dioxide rounding off the successful appearance The nose is a symphony of green grass, fragrant hay, gently roasted malt and sun-ripened grain The first sip refreshes body and soul with a tangy mouthfeel, juicy citrus notes and a delicate bitterness Gradually, strong notes of blossom honey, hay and straw join in, creating a flavor profile that will delight every Pilsner connoisseur
