More information about J.W. Huesgen Old Vines Riesling Dry 2020
The grapes used for the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken make the white wine something very special, because they come from 60-year-old vines with no roots. These grow on slate soils in the single vineyard Enkircher Steffensberg and the soil is also responsible for the intense and elegant character of this top Riesling. A colorful melange of light yellow and green makes the wine a feast for the eyes already in the glass, while the wonderful, slightly spicy fragrance spoils the nose. Aromas of yellow fruits perfectly round off the first impression. On the palate, the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken impresses above all with its opulent structure, which the white wine owes to its aging in wooden barrels. Incidentally, the great Riesling commemorates Lotte Huesgen, a strong woman who continued the tradition of the winery after World War II. Beyond that, however, it is the rootless vines in particular that make the white wine a Riesling gem - because rootless means that the entire vine, from root to grape, comes from the same plant. This is a rarity today, as about 90 percent of vines are not rootless. Therefore, you should definitely enjoy the J.W. Huesgen Alte Reben Riesling Trocken once pure. If you want to serve the white wine with food, the combination with cheese or poultry is best recommended.
