For the Maennerhobby cornelian cherry liqueur, we macerated some of the fruit and juiced some of it to obtain a really nice, intense aroma for our liqueur.
What does Maennerhobby cornelian cherry liqueur taste like?
The taste of Maennerhobby Kornelkirschlikör is actually somewhat reminiscent of cherry. However, the cornelian cherry brings a hint of marzipan into play.

Maennerhobby Kornelkirschlikör has a pleasant 18 % vol. alcohol.
What are cornelian cherries?
The cornelian cherry is not actually a cherry at all - it is a so-called "dogwood". However, the fruits look very similar to their namesakes, but have a more elongated stone. Normal cherries and dogwood specimens are also very similar in taste.
We obtained the rare cornelian cherry, also known as Dirndl, from the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Research Institute. Various fruit and vegetable varieties are grown there that are not yet at home here. The cornelian cherries are harvested when fully ripe, or almost overripe, in order to obtain the most intense flavor possible for our Maennerhobby cornelian cherry liqueur.
