More information about Príncipe de los Apóstoles Mate Gin Fuerza Gaucha
The "Fuerza Gaucha", or "Gaucho strength" in reference to the "Navy strength" known from the British tradition. So far only in limited edition, this is the identical distillate as the regular Apóstoles Gin, just less diluted.
It is really exciting that - although the character of the gin remains fully preserved and recognizable, of course - the balance of flavors shifts somewhat. The slightly resinous-woody from the juniper comes a little more to the fore, but without the freshness of eucalyptus and peperina or the herbaceous note of the mate leaves disappears.
Príncipe de los Apóstoles Mate Gin is the creation of Argentina's best-known mixologist, Renato "Tato" Giovannoni, owner and bar manager of Bar Florería Atlantico in Buenos Aires, which is regularly confirmed as the best bar in Latin America and voted among the world's 50 best bars by the Drinks International expert jury. With the gin, he realized his lifelong dream a few years ago and created a tribute to the most Argentine of all drinks - mate tea.
Príncipe de los Apóstoles Mate Gin is made by distilling individually macerated solutions of juniper berries, fresh mate leaves, eucalyptus, peperina (a plant endemic only to Argentina, aromatically reminiscent of mint), coriander seeds and the peel of pink grapefruit in a small (200l) copper still in the Argentine highlands.
