Dark & Stormy
The history of the Dark & Stormy cocktail is at least as fascinating as its taste. Known for its rich, complex flavors, this cocktail has become a favorite among aficionados - and is often enjoyed in sun-drenched, tropical climes.
The Dark & Stormy has its roots in Bermuda, where it was first created by the Gosling family, who founded the Gosling's Rum company. The exact date of origin is disputed, but it is thought to have been invented at the beginning of the 20th century.
Gosling's Black Seal Rum, the main ingredient in this cocktail, has been produced in Bermuda since 1806. This smooth, dark rum was mixed with ginger beer to create the delicious Dark & Stormy we know today.
The name of the cocktail is said to have been coined by a sailor who likened the appearance of the cocktail to a storm cloud.

- Pour in the lime juice & ginger beer.

What does the Dark & Stormy cocktail taste like?
The Dark & Stormy has a spicy yet refreshing aroma.
Difference between Dark & Stormy and Black & Stormy
The Dark & Stormy is often referred to as the national drink of Bermuda, and its recipe is strictly protected by the Gosling family. In fact, the trademarked name Dark & Stormy can only be used if it is made with Gosling's Black Seal Rum. If a different rum is used, the cocktail is often called Dark'n'Spicy or Black & Stormy.
The Dark & Stormy is best served on ice in a highball glass. It is usually garnished with a slice of lime for an extra burst of flavor. The next time you fancy a tropical break in a glass, mix yourself a Dark & Stormy and let the aromas take you on a trip to the island paradise of Bermuda.
