More information about Riedenburger Ur-Weizen
The Riedenburger organic brewery has a wide range of handcrafted beers made exclusively from ingredients grown in controlled organic cultivation The environmentally and health-conscious brewers have also opted for an old grain variety for their Ur-Weizen: Emmer is one of the first grain varieties ever cultivated and comes from the wheat family The grain, also known as two-grain, has a particularly high protein and mineral content and a fine taste It is used in malted form for brewing
The Ur-Weizen flows into the glass in a copper-red amber hue and carries a stately crown of creamy foam on the naturally cloudy body The top-fermented beer specialty has a fine aroma of ripe banana and spicy clove The classic wheat beer bouquet is joined by notes of roasted hazelnuts and the scent of freshly baked yeast plait After this grandiose start, the wheat tastes all the better: The lively carbonic acid makes the aromas of sun-ripened grain, spicy yeast and soft banana dance on the tongue A fresh twist of lemon gives the beer a playful lightness, while notes of clove, caramel, roasted nuts and candied fruit lend character and structure to the rounded taste A fine bitterness underpins the interplay of aromas and finishes the beer enjoyment together with a fruity sweetness
