More information about Historic natural Emmer beer
The Riedenburger Brauhaus has a wide range of interesting beers on offer. In addition to traditional beers, long-established classics and seasonal specialties, the brewery also offers a range of beers made from ancient grains, some of which have long been forgotten.
Apart from spelt, malt and barley, hardly anyone is familiar with other types of grain these days, but there are many healthy, tasty alternatives to the common types. Emmer, for example, has been cultivated since the beginning of cereal cultivation. This ancient grain belongs to the wheat family and is also known as two-grain. The grain has a fine, nutty taste and scores highly with its high protein and mineral content. In beer, emmer provides an appealing dark color and a wonderful spiciness.
The historic emmer beer from Riedenburger flows into the glass in a chestnut-brown amber hue, topped with a good amount of creamy, lightly browned foam. The naturally cloudy beer exudes an enticing aroma of dark caramel, roasted nuts, oven-fresh bread crust and sweet, pale malt as soon as it is poured. The first sip reveals a surprisingly light-footed body with gentle carbonation and a soft, creamy texture. A dominant note of caramel covers the palate and tongue like a blanket, accompanied by the aroma of freshly baked cookies, roasted hazelnuts and roasted cereals. A subtle acidity hovers over the interplay of aromas and elegantly complements it alongside a subtle bitterness.
The historic Emmer beer from the Riedenburger Brauhaus is an uncomplicated, drinkable beer that goes perfectly with hearty snacks and homemade apple pie!
