More information about Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo 2019
Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo sparkles in the glass in a light straw yellow and delights from the very first moment with its expressive, floral fragrance. Citrus aromas and notes of tropical fruit round off the bouquet wonderfully. On the palate, fresh fruit notes of stone fruit and lemons are particularly noticeable, surrounded by a light oak note, which the white wine cuvée made from Marsanne (39%), Roussanne (37%), Grenache Blanc (22%) and Verdelho (2%) owes to its eleven months of ageing in French oak. Crisp and well-structured, Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo will gain even more complexity over time. The white wine, of which only nine barrels were made, ends with a mineral finish. The combination possibilities of Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo are as complex as its character, as the white wine goes well with dishes with poultry in a creamy sauce or grilled fish as well as with various cheeses or spicy dishes, such as a mild curry. But you should definitely also try this white wine on its own. Incidentally, Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo owes its name to the grape varieties from which it was made, as they cope well with the Mediterranean climate that also prevails in the Cape.
