Notes on the EU definition law:
It should be noted that the production site of Kuyavian Stomach Drops is not in Kuyavia, but in Brüssow.
The original recipe, which is well known, is used.
Kuyavian Stomach Drops is a stomach liqueur, which is produced in a traditional way with the help of maceration.
The characteristics of the Kujawi Stomach Drops do not correspond to a specific geographical area, but to a specific ethnic group, although the name of the drink designates a region. Characteristic of this drink is the combination of various medicinal and bitter herbs.
In Germany, a culture of herbal liqueurs developed over centuries, which had its origin in the search for medicines. Some of the raw materials used came from Asia and Africa, so there was no need for a preferred geographical area in which to produce the drink. Due to the fact that the various producers are located all over Germany and that they are spread all over the country, the name Kujawische Magentropfen was already considered a generic name in the 1920s and is therefore not worthy of territorial protection.
