More information about Christ Gin
Why a "spiritual"? When we were looking for the name for our unique sage gin, the choice quickly fell on the idea giver - i.e. Christian. Why? Pronounced in English: [ˈkɹɪst'] ['ʃin'] or just ChristGin. However, as soon as we showed our product to English Natives, they were astonished, because they separate the syllables in ['kɹaɪst'] ['ʃin'] - and created a clear religious reference by combining Christ(us) and gin. From this circumstance - no need - we made a virtue and explored the meaning of sage in some religions and in medicine. Our "spiritual" version is meant to embody our experience with it.
Sage with spiritual benefits
Native Americans especially value the American white sage. It is used on a variety of spiritual occasions. Ideally for ceremonies, such as burning the bundled leaves to create a spiritual bridge between the living and the dead.
However, it is also used for more practical reasons, in a sweat lodge - to cleanse evil spirits and purify the soul. Sage in Christianity , where it was believed, especially in France and England, that the sage could make immortal as ambrosia deorum. In the Christian faith, sage is called the plant of Mary and even the Holy Family is said to have found shelter from persecutors under a sage bush when fleeing to Egypt.
In churches/masses even today there is an ecclesiastical consecration with a bunch of herbs consisting of the seven main herbs: chamomile, wormwood, lavender, peppermint, sage, hyssop and thyme. This consecration means something like a request for divine assistance. The herbs refer to the salvation of the whole person, to the work of God in creation and to salvation. Depending on the region and place, different interpretations are known.
Sage in medicine
Real sage is highly valued as a medicinal plant because of its ingredients and antiseptic powers against bacteria, viruses and fungi. Sage is used for inflammation of the mouth and throat, digestive problems and excessive sweating. In traditional medicine, rheumatic pains, headaches and menstrual pains are also treated with sage. In more recent stress therapy, sage is also used as an anti-depressant for stressed managers.
Sage in the film industry
And even more suitable as an anecdote than for imitation is Winnetou's trick to survive the ride through the Valley of the Serpents. He rubbed sage on the legs of his horses. This kept (in the film) the snakes away. His successors unfortunately had worse cards and succumbed to the poisonous bites.
