Every year, the Belgian brewery Corsendonk from Oud-Turnhout brings out its fine Christmas Ale just in time for the Advent season To sweeten the uncomfortable winter season for their friends, the Belgians brew a full-bodied, strong beer, The dark Belgian Strong Ale is available in the traditional 0.33l bottle and in the festive version in 0.75l bottles, which are sealed with a real cork The holiday version is an elegant gift and the perfect alternative to sparkling wine on Christmas Eve
The Christmas Ale from Corsendonk flows into the glass in a deep brown caramel color and shows ruby red reflections when the light falls on it A wintery potpourri of different scents rises from the fine, hazelnut-brown foam: On the nose, dried figs, spicy rum, cloves, cinnamon, fruity plums and delicious sherry combine to create a tantalizing blend The first sip reveals a voluminous beer with an alcohol content of 8.5%, which lingers from the palate to the stomach
