More information about Dornier Leda 2017
Powerful red wine cuvée with character and structure
"
The Dornier Leda 2017 is a powerful, structured blend of 50% Malbec, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Shiraz. It is expressive, refined and serious at the same time - a red wine with a luxurious feel, concentrated fruit and a strong backbone.
The grapes come from top vineyards on Stellenbosch Mountain and Simonsberg. While the Malbec and Cabernet Franc grow on granite soil on the Groenkloof, the Shiraz comes from deep red soils in north-east-facing sites on the Simonsberg. The southeast winds ensure healthy vines and optimal ripeness.
Fermentation took place in open stainless steel tanks with daily pumping over and punching down. The wine matured for 18 months in wooden barrels, with 50% of the Malbec aged in new American oak and the rest in second-use and older French barrels.
An ideal accompaniment to grilled meat or chocolate desserts - sensual, complex and with striking depth.
