Our story begins with our founder Gustav Joseph Ziegler learning his trade as a master brewer. When this brewing of beer was no longer enough for him, he took advantage of an old special right that allowed his parents' farm to distill spirits. Ziegler put the same care into the distilling of his brandies as he did into the production of his beers, as a result of which they quickly gained a good reputation and became known beyond the borders of the village. In the end, Gustav Joseph Ziegler held three master titles: master brewer, master cooper and master distiller.

Our founder was always eager to try new things and surround himself with interesting people - a quality that can still be felt in our distillery today. We are not afraid of progress, we support it. The introduction of the noble brand Ziegler "No.1 Wildkirsch" in the 80s brought success and entry into the star gastronomy. Over the years, the Ziegler distillery with its barrel-aged brandies and 3-liter bottles has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the German gourmet landscape. Since 2008, the first single malt whisky from the Lower Main region has been distilled in Freudenberg. A tribute to the history of the distillery's origins, which once began as a beer brewery.
