More information about White Label 2019 No. 2
Unlike most of the other representatives of the 2019 White Label series, number 2 is not matured in whiskey barrels. The dark ale is filled into port wine barrels after completion.
Oak barrels that previously contained tawny port are used to refine the beer. There is both ruby-red port and a variant that is reminiscent of chestnut in color. Tawny is the chestnut-brown type which, in contrast to red port, is not stored in the usual large-format barrels but in small oak barrels. The smaller barrels make for an even more flavorful wine. If the barrels are converted for beer storage, the beer receives correspondingly strong aromas from the oak wood during the maturation process. The additional storage also makes the beer more balanced and full-bodied.
Emelisses White Label Dark Ale Tawny Port Barrel Aged flows into the glass in the color of autumn chestnuts and is slightly cloudy. A delicate layer of fine-pored, beige foam crowns the beer and exudes a wonderful aroma of dry red wine, roasted malt, English toffee and red berries. The first sip reveals a creamy, full-bodied taste with a myriad of different flavor nuances. A complex aromatic framework of caramel, dark baked sourdough bread, raisins soaked in rum, brown sugar candy, dried berries, liquorice, heavy red wine and melt-in-the-mouth chocolate builds up on the tongue. A fresh acidity and a strong alcohol note accompany the intense interplay of aromas.
A feast of dark aromas!
