A dark secret in a glass

Bremen, 1827 : The city is shrouded in fog - and under the cloak of virtue, its innermost secrets are rotting. When Clemens Maximilian Coldewey, a young, ambitious city bailiff, takes up his duties, he expects corruption and abuse of power. But the case of a dead sailor leads him to a name he will never forget: Gesche Gottfried - the "Angel of Bremen", known for her charity - and soon also for something much darker.

As Coldewey begins to unravel a web of helpfulness and death, he comes across clues: Traces of poison and a homemade liqueur that was meant to provide more than just sweet comfort. In a world where good deeds are often a façade, Coldewey must realize that true cruelty occurs quietly.

Fofftein Seel is a story based on true events - about a woman who killed fifteen people and a man who dared to follow the supposed angel of Bremen through a fog of illusion into her poisoned darkness.
