More information about Hausbrauer Hell
The tradition of home brewing is a Franconian invention In the past, farmers could deliver their barley to their trusted brewery and in return receive fresh, unaged beer made from their grain This meant that the farmers did not have to brew their own beer, saved on taxes when buying beer and the brewery had more space in the fermenting cellar for other beers, unpretentious lager that could be collected directly from the farmers once the brewing process was complete They brought their own barrels and the young beer was tapped directly into them and stored by the farmers in their own cellars Today, this custom hardly exists any more, but some breweries are reminiscent of the good old days with a home-brewed beer
One of these tradition-conscious breweries is the Trunk brewery Its Hausbrauer Hell can no longer be picked up fresh in barrels, but it tastes wonderful from the bottle too
The beer flows into the glass in a shiny golden hue and is adorned with a fairly stable crown of medium-pored foam A mild aroma of ripe grain rises to the nose and awakens the beer thirst The first sip is finely sparkling and delivers a soft sweetness that tastes of spicy forest honey and unripe hazelnut A delicately hopped finish crowns the beer enjoyment
