Journeyman Bilberry Black Hearts Gin with wooden gift box

The Journeyman Distillery is a true grain-to-bottle distillery, where every aspect of spirit production is closely monitored. The distillery was founded by Bill Welter in 2011, a former Rand professional golfer who wanted to learn all about whisk(e)y in Scotland.

The distillery uses traditional methods from the 18th century. For Journeyman Bilberry Black Hearts Gin, only 9 botanicals are carefully selected, macerated and soaked in 100% grain spirit for one night. The next day, the base spirit, full of the flavors of the botanicals, is distilled again.

According to Thomas Hardy's novel, The Return of the Native, blueberries are also called huckleberries, meaning they have a black heart. Each of us has something of the black heart; however, there is always a rueful and sweet return when the scent and taste of familiar things come.
