More information about Klosterbräu Bamberg Kellerbier

The name Kellerbier is derived from two different circumstances: Firstly, the Kellerbier matures in the brewery's lager cellar after the brewing process is complete, and secondly, the specialty is served with preference in the beer cellars of Franconia.

Once the brewing process is complete, the Klosterbräu beer is stored underground for a few weeks. The long-established brewery is the oldest brewery still in existence in Bamberg and is home to the oldest lager cellar in the city. In these venerable halls, their lager matures to its full glory before it is served in the brewery's pub, on the terrace or in the beer garden. The beer is a natural, unfiltered brew in the old tradition and flows into the glass in a delicately cloudy copper red. The stately crown of fine-pored foam exudes an enticing aroma of buttery caramel and roasted nuts. The first sip reveals a subtly composed body that brings full-bodied malt, nutty aromas and fruity hints to the tongue. The hops contribute an elegant bitterness that skillfully balances the malt variety.

The strong Kellerbier from the Klosterbräu has been on the winners' podium several times in international competitions and has ensured that the brewery has also become known outside Franconia. With this brew handed down from ancient times, the team proves that craftsmanship, tradition and taste are simply timeless.
