More information about 2018 La Llave Roja 8 meses
Winemaker Carlos Plaza is one of the rising stars of the wild and romantic Extremadura region in south-western Spain. Carlos breaks new innovative ground with his wines without forgetting his origins.
The grapes for La Llave Roja 8 meses come from the estate's best plots. They are harvested at night to avoid the heat of the day and thus obtain grapes in perfect condition for processing in the cellar.
Spontaneous fermentation takes place here, using only natural yeasts from the vineyard. After fermentation, each grape variety is placed individually in barrique barrels to mature for 8 months before Carlos assembles the final cuvée.
This cuvée of Tempranillo, Merlot and Syrah was able to capture a lot of sunshine from Extremadura and delights with fresh fruit of raspberries and cherries, accompanied by light oak and tobacco notes. Smooth and soft with silky tannins, well structured and enormously appealing, this wine is a real all-rounder for almost all occasions.

Bodegas Carlos Plaza
Our winery is located on the outskirts of a remote village called Cortegana, in the province of Badajoz, between the towns of Almendralejo, Badajoz and Mérida, which has only 300 inhabitants. We are surrounded by vineyards and olive groves that shine in silent tranquility. Sometimes you can hear the rattle of the vineyard workers' tractors as they make their way to their vines, as well as the barking of the dogs that faithfully accompany them along the way. Our winery, which presents a peaceful image with its traditional architecture, is equipped with the most modern technology for the production and bottling of wines. With its simple appearance, it strives to surprise with its wines. The landscape, the climate, the warmth of the sun on our faces, the sweat on our foreheads and the cold in our fingers are all imbued with the spirit of Extremadura. This offers us a glimpse into the...
