After an initial small but quickly sold-out edition of 450 bottles in 2014, a strong quartet is now being released: Rotspon Triple Wood whisky matured in 4 different casks. With Mackmyra Rotspon Triple Wood, the von Have winery and Mackmyra have created a special limited bottling, a reminiscence of the Hanseatic era and the long-standing trading partnership between the two countries.

The whisky is matured each year in Rotspon barrique casks sent directly to Mackmyra's cask storage facility at Gut Basthorst. This single malt whisky is bottled by hand at cask strength in 0.5-liter bottles in a strictly limited quantity of around 450 bottles per cask and is now available as a special bottling from the von Have winery and Mackmyra Swedish Whisky GmbH in Basthorst.

Mackmyra Rotspon Triple Wood is created from the unpeated, elegant recipe, which is first aged for 4 years in 200 liter American oak casks in Mackmyra's Gruvlager at a depth of 50 meters and then matured for 6 months in 30 liter gravity casks made of American and Swedish oak. This whisky is finished in the special Rotspon barrique casks of the von Have winery, which has been maturing classic Bordeaux wines in French oak in its cellars since 1868. This year, three barrels have been selected by Christoph von Have, owner of the von Have winery. The individual characteristics of these barrels, which led to particular sensory differences, led Angela d'Oratio to decide not to combine the three barrels for bottling, but to age them individually and to give the barrels the first names of the Nobel Prize winners Alfred, Dag, Klas and Nathan. This unusual combination opens up a wealth of aromas of bourbon vanilla, butterscotch, citrus, pepper, dried fruit, cherry and berries.

Swedish single cask whisky limited to 424 bottles with deep maturation, matured twice in oak casks and finished in red sponge barriques - a combination that opens up a wealth of distinctive flavors.
