Saperavi Qvevri 2021 from Makashvili Wine Cellar is produced using the traditional Kakhetian method in Qvevris. These are traditional Georgian clay vessels that are dug into the ground and create the perfect environment for winemaking.
This ancient winemaking method in Qvevri is 8000 years old and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Qvevris of Makashvili wine cellars are over 130 years old and are among the oldest Qvevris in Georgia still in operation.
The wine has a dark ruby red color and strong aromas typical of the grape variety. These are notes of blackcurrants, blackberries and cornelian cherries. The wine has perfectly balanced tannins and a long, pleasant finish.
