This rum is pure Caribbean. Distilled in the old tradition from pure sugar cane juice, this rum Agricole aged 7 years in bourbon barrels on the Caribbean island of Marie-Galant. "Mission's Best" rum was selected by Captain Cornelius together with Jérôme Thiery of the award-winning traditional distillery and put into two white wine barrels from Bordeaux to start the journey aboard our cargo sailer across the Atlantic. On the white beach, under the hot Caribbean sun, the AVONTUUR crew built a raft of bamboo and empty oak barrels and transported the barrels to the AVONTUUR, which was anchored off Saint Louis.
7,300 nautical miles across the Atlantic aboard the AVONTUUR shaped this premium rum agricole. Its unique taste therefore made it not only an ambassador for environmental protection at sea, but also the favorite rum of our captain and initiator Cornelius Bockermann.

Our story: During his more than 20 years of work experience in the shipping industry, Cornelius Bockermann was able to see for himself how we humans adversely affect our environment. With his company he carried out heavy transports for the oil industry. It was a lucrative business that earned him a lot of money, but it also made him aware of the impact that global transport shipping has on the oceans. More than 90 percent of global trade is handled by container ships, which are almost exclusively powered by heavy fuel oil. This fuel has long been banned on land and must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
