After the Easy Pale Ale and the Kellerpils, the Local IPA is brew number 3, which springs from the brewing system of the young and fresh brewery Orca Brau. Felix vom Endt is the head, heart and hand behind the Orca Brau project and runs the store together with his wife and child. The dynamic trio has been making a name for themselves from the start and is wowing the beer scene with creative beers and true classics with a new twist.
The Local IPA is a modern interpretation of the traditional India Pale Ale and bears the designation "local" because the hops used, like the brewery itself, come from Franconia. The highly aromatic hop varieties Cascade and Huell Melon give the beer its juicy character and make the Local IPA not only a local hero but also a real summer hit.
The IPA flows into the glass in a cloudy golden hue and forms a small head. On the nose, the Local IPA presents itself spicy, fruity and with a strong hint of sun-dried grain. The initial drink reveals a medium-heavy body with a delightfully creamy mouthfeel. A good amount of carbonation allows the flavors to dance on the tongue and tingle delicately on the palate. On a base of oven-fresh bread, the hops bloom in all facets of fruit and delight the taste buds with notes of gooseberry, pine resin, juicy orange and tangy lemon. A dry bitterness rounds off the juicy taste experience.
