Riga Black Balsam, the special tasty herbal bitter with its warming 45% vol. and spicy depth of flavor, is a true Latvian specialty. It is a harmonious blend composed of extracts of herbs, flowers, juices, roots and berries.
Among others, lime blossoms, birch buds, valerian roots, raspberries, blueberries and ginger are present, as well as notes of nutmeg and black peppercorn.
Riga Black Balsam is aged in oak barrels, where its characteristic strength and somewhat bittersweet flavor can develop. The unique recipe was created in the 18th century in Riga by pharmacist Abraham Kunz.
