An ambitious bourbon barrel-aged American barleywine from Side Project’s coveted Beer: Time series.
This 2018 release offers dense, resinous layers of caramel and toffee on a base of brown sugar and molasses. The years spent in bourbon barrels impart deep notes of vanilla bean, charred oak, and warming whiskey, while the malt backbone reveals dark fruit nuances of fig, raisin, and dried cherry.
Full-bodied and luxuriously viscous, the finish concludes with sweet bourbon warmth, baking spices, and a gentle oak tannin that balances the lush sweetness. A remarkably deep and complex beer to savor.
