Siglo Cero Pox is a traditional spirit from the Mayan culture. Pox (pronounced "Posh") is distilled from corn, wheat and sugar cane and is similar to the production of tequila and mezcal. Among the Mayans ("Maya" is a collective term for the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica), pox was and is mainly used for ceremonial purposes and festivals.

Siglo Cero Pox is a clear, smooth, traditional Mexican liquor with a smoky grain flavor. You could also say that Pox is a cross between a white whiskey, a grappa and an agricultural rum. A sweet and spicy blend reminiscent of corn, fresh bread and freshly pressed sugar cane.
Background of Pox
Pox has its origins in Chiapas and is attributed to the Tzotzil-Mayas. The liquor was and is also regarded as a symbol of resistance by the first inhabitants of Mexico, who fought back against the Spanish soldiers and missionaries. Above all against their spirit being misused for other purposes.
Recently, however, pox has been enjoying a triumphant rise in the bar and cocktail scene. In Mexico in particular, it is increasingly becoming a trendy spirit. Nevertheless, Siglo Cero Pox, for example, is still very difficult to buy. It is also only 6 years ago that the sale of pox was also permitted in the state of Chiapas. Since then, pox has spread to California, Texas, Nevada and Washington, but is certainly only just beginning to spread among connoisseurs.

Pox, pronounced "Posh," is made from corn, sugar cane and wheat. The Maya used and still use Pox for ceremonies, festivals, and for medicinal and spiritual reasons. Siglo Cero Pox has only recently begun to make its way into the bars and cocktails of the world. In fact, it has only been a few years that Pox has been allowed to be sold outside of the state of Chiapas in Mexico. Both tasting and watching the evolution of Pox are worthwhile!
