More information about St. GeorgenBräu winter beer
Buttenheim is a small town at the gateway to Franconian Switzerland It is particularly beautiful there in winter: Due to its slightly elevated location, it often snows earlier in Buttenheim than in neighboring Bamberg When this is the case, a powdered sugar-fine layer of white flakes covers the roofs of the half-timbered houses and gives the town a fairytale flair The surrounding hills are declared sledding hills and thickly wrapped children whiz down the mountain on traditional wooden sleds (and the occasional sleek bobsled) Snow-covered trees surround the town and the forest invites you to take winter walks followed by mulled wine
If you too would like to bring a piece of Buttenheim's winter magic home with you, we recommend the winter beer from the local St Georgen Bräu instead of mulled wine. The traditional brewery has been in family hands since 1624 and is known above all for its cellar beer, which is served in the brewery's own beer cellar: With its Franconian charm, red-golden color and malty variety, it turns our heads and warms body and soul throughout the winter Buttenheim's winter beer presents itself on the nose with fine malt notes and an aroma reminiscent of freshly baked bread The taste follows on the heels and scores with full-bodied malt, delicate sweetness and hoppy bitterness
