The history of this unique gin has its origin, unusually, in the Netherlands. In 1658, the distillery Onder de Boompjes appears for the first time by name.
Genever showed up as the first product produced by the Steffelaar family of the time. Sylvius Dry Gin is named after Franciscus Sylvius.

The history of the distillery Onder de Boompjes begins in 1658, when the Steffelaer family started selling and producing various genever. Over time, the distillery did not pass from father to son, but had a more entrepreneurial history. A total of four families owned the distillery until the Batenburg family took it over. Today, the distillery is located on the Schie River in Schiedam, right next to Royal Dutch Distillers and Nolet Distillery. Currently, the talented hands of our master distiller John de Lange produce four genever, three gins and one vodka. He brings over 30 years of experience in the production of genever, gins, vodkas and liqueurs. The complete production of our distillates, Moutwijn, Esprit, etc. is done in-house, as is our bottling.
