More information about AboutQuell Brauwerkstätten Original
The development of Überquell Brewery's original was preceded by some thought. Instead of creating a complicated beer with myriads of different, interwoven flavor levels, the brewery wanted to make a beer that tastes good and is simple for a change. Straight forward, so to speak.
The guys at ÜberQuell love beer, and you can see and taste it. Their hoppy creations are created in the bosom of a true beer paradise: Brewery, tap room, beer garden, and beer experience venue all in one hop-magical place. So there's no doubt that the brewers behind ÜberQuell could easily pull off the wackiest beer ever. But they wouldn't. At least not with the original. The Helle was supposed to be a beer that goes well with pizza from your favorite Italian restaurant and can also sweeten the worst soccer game of all time. Easy going, not too cerebral, but still really tasty.
The result is something to behold - and taste! ÜberQuell Original flows into the glass in a pale yellow gold hue and forms a fluffy, white foam crown. A fine aroma of sun-ripened grain, spicy yeast, and slightly grassy, green hops rises from the creamy foam. On the palate, the original is decidedly hoppy. On a soft, slightly spicy base of malt and yeast, the hops show themselves in all their facets. A subtle, fruity bitterness from the white part of tangy lemon peel joins the aroma of freshly mown grass on the tongue, and a hint of sweetness from lemon candy underpins the hoppy aroma interplay.
What can we say? The original from ÜberQuell is exactly what it wants to be: sweet, unagitated and to the point.

A matter of the heart Even though the guys from St. Pauli have a reputation for being tough guys, there's one thing you can't write off from them: Passion. And that's what makes ÜberQuell a true highlight in Hamburg's culinary landscape. Axel Ohm and Patrick Rüther are the brilliant minds behind the project and the people who conceived and set up the microbrewery...
