More information about 12x fresh hop beer
Fresh hop beer - it doesn't get any fresher than this!
A rarity: Only once in the fall, the fresh hops are driven directly from us to the brewhouse at 6h in the morning and brewed. The result: A strong, golden ale with complex notes of blackberry and licorice.
Only once a year does this opportunity arise: to brew a beer with fresh hops. A Wet Hop Ale. We take this opportunity every year in the Hallertau, and brew a little rarity: Fresh Hop Ale - beer made from fresh and undried Hallertau hops. That's where the full aroma is present.
As a hop variety in 2017, Hallertau Mittelfrüh has again lent its aroma to this beer. Mittelfrüh is a traditional German hop variety whose distribution has been greatly reduced by other varieties. Yet its flavor characteristics are outstanding and give every beer a hop-spicy note. We are working on its renaissance.
We harvest the cones early in the morning and then immediately brew the beer with them in the brewhouse. This is how the hops show what they can do. Combined with a top-fermenting yeast, the result was a wet hop strong ale of powerful astringency and great flavor. The pilsner malt gives a strong golden yellow color. The hops conjure up notes of blackberry and licorice, and are somewhat reminiscent of spicy anise. The taste experience is rounded off by a nice bitter note, which harmonizes wonderfully with the light sweetness of the strong beer.
