Caraway has always been a specialty from the Oechelhaeuser family. When the distillery was founded by the Oechelhaeuser family in 1842, nobody would have guessed that this Siegen specialty would still be so popular 180 years later.
A surprising discovery was made during excavation work on the Oberstadtbrücke bridge in Siegen. Historical treasures such as old bottles, recipes and other items from the old distillery were unearthed. The anniversary caraway is also based on an old recipe that had long been lost.
With a great deal of love, care and craftsmanship, this specialty was brought back to life for the 180th anniversary.
