Barrel aged gin is the latest trend among gin fans. Barrel-aged gin can give gin even more exciting flavors. With our beloved juniper schnapps, barrel-aging is all the more special because gin already offers so many different flavors.

What is aged gin?

Aged gin or barrel-aged gin is a fully distilled gin that has been stored in a barrel for a while. This is intended to give the spirit new aromas from the wooden barrel, as is also common with whisky, rum and some brandies and grains. There is no question that the gin naturally develops a unique taste as a result.

How long the gin remains in the barrel - i.e. aged - is up to the master distiller. Some gins are allowed another 3 months in the barrel, others even 6 months, for example. Will producers soon also be storing gin for several years? And whether this is good for the taste of the gin at all? Let us be surprised.

What is certain is that we can once again enjoy observing the versatility of the spirits and gin world in the choice of barrels. The storage methods range from classic American oak to mulberry barrels and even a Pinot Noir wine barrel. Here, too, it is fun to try out and taste the different approaches. You can buy aged gin online from us. We also promise that we will of course be constantly expanding our range of aged gin.

Gin on tap - that was a given

Well, was it only a matter of time before gins were also stored in barrels? Sure, in retrospect that's easy to say. But there is no question that the gin trend is here to stay and is developing in every nook and cranny, bringing something new and fun. Whether it's the juniper-poor New Western Gins, the Sloe Gin or the next gin with a special hop recipe.

The special thing about barrel ageing is that it is almost a logical variant of further development. A number of spirits are stored in barrels in order to mature and improve. Somehow it is clear that sooner or later more and more regional gin producers will discover this for themselves.

As a marketplace, we give these producers their own online stores, where you can now also buy aged gin, among other things. We will continue to expand our range. Of course, you can also discover all other types of gin in our store and buy rare gin.
