Alto de la Ballena
In 1998, Paula Pivel and Alvaro Lorenzo founded a small winery in the department of Maldonado, in the southeastern region of Uruguay. They just knew that they liked good wines and now they were looking for an appealing place in a good location where they could plant wine, that had beautiful landscapes and was well located. It took several months of intensive search until they were able to acquire almost twenty hectares in the Sierra de la Ballena - a few kilometers from the sea and from Punta del Este, the most beautiful seaside resort in the country. Meanwhile, Alto de la Ballena wines are in demand not only international specialty stores, but also in gourmet restaurants and the best Restauraunts in Uruguay.
