More information about Bacchanalia Pinot Noir

What do you get when free spirits and self-proclaimed bastards make common cause? Something wonderful!

The brewery Freigeist Bierkultur from Stolberg has teamed up with the Beer Bastards from Bulgaria for its latest project The young savages have a long journey behind them, and that's not just measured in kilometers: Their collaborative work was stored in barrels for an impressive four years after the brewing process was completed The oak vessels previously housed the finest French Pinot Noir and released a whole host of fine flavors into the beer as it matured But the wine's influence doesn't stop there: The brew contains the finest grape must from the Pinot Noir grape variety, which is characterized by its fruity berry notes and a delicate hint of nuttiness In addition, the grapes provided wild yeasts that cling to the skins of the fruit and support the beer during spontaneous fermentation

At the end of the winey process is a honey-golden beer with a warm copper sheen and a volatile head Dark grapes run like a blue thread through the beer and characterize both the aroma and the flavor These are joined by spicy wood, red berries, soft malt, funky yeast and an elegant, fruity acidity A dry, sour finish rounds off the drinking experience harmoniously
