Since its launch, the young creative brewery Schwarze Rose has brought out a series of extraordinary beers Insomnia is the third in the series and a cold brew coffee stout The dark beer is brewed in cooperation with the Müller coffee roasting company The roasting company supplies the brewery with fair-trade, organically grown coffee beans, which are then used to make a cold brew Cold brew is a technique in which the coffee is produced using cold water, The finished coffee is then placed in the kettle and fermented together with hops, malt, oat flakes and yeast The result is a beer that not only has the color of coffee, but also smells and tastes wonderfully of it

Insomnia flows into the glass in a deep black coffee hue and forms a small, milk foam-like crown A seductive aroma rises from the slightly tinted foam: Freshly brewed coffee mingles with roasted nuts, melt-in-the-mouth chocolate and dark berries on the nose The first sip reveals a beer with dark roasted aromas and a velvety mouthfeel An intense coffee note presents itself pleasantly dry on the tongue, soft caramel, dark chocolate and chocolate raisins complete the play of aromas The finish is soft and lingers long on the palate
