Bodegas Torre del Veguer

Bodegas Torre del Veguer

Curtain up for a fantastic insider tip from Catalonia: The Torre del Veguer winery is pure history and tradition! Because here in the old walls of a former monastery wine is verifiably pressed since the year 1413. But the heritage of the long winemaking tradition is not only preserved on paper. It is also reflected in the wines of Torre del Veguer. For example, the old stone vats from the Middle Ages that are embedded in the ground are used again today for the mash fermentation of the red wines - just as they were more than 600 years ago.

The family-run winery is now managed by Joaquín Gay, the 6th generation. His family was in close friendship with the world-famous Catalan painter Salvador Dalí, who was often a guest at the winery. That is why today the winery has some of the painter's works of art, which can be seen in the old walls. For the wine Raïms de la Immortalitat (Grapes of Immortality) was used a painting by Dalí that bears the signature of the artist.
