More information about Brauhaus Binkert Barley Wine
Brauhaus Binkert from Breitengüßbach in Franconia is constantly changing: not only is Jörg Binkert always looking for new recipes for the finest beers, he also invites cuckoo brewers, friends and brewerless colleagues into his hallowed halls Moreover, no challenge is too great for Jörg and he is not averse to experimenting He is currently toying with the idea of bringing out his own whiskey However, the fact that these plans are still in the development phase does not stop the resourceful brewer from taking the first steps in the right direction
One of these steps involves the purchase and preparation of wooden barrels Jörg has used this joyous occasion to brew a beer that will give the barrels a wonderful aroma And vice versa, of course: when fine beers are stored in oak wood, the barrel releases oak tannins into the drink and gives the fine drop an incomparably soft, spicy aroma The perfect beer style for this kind of project is Barley Wine
The result of the elaborate process is a powerful beer with an impressive 8.5% alcohol content, made exclusively from regional ingredients and then refined in oak barrels Binkert's Barley Wine is a deep black beer with a hazelnut-brown haze and stunning aromas: dark plum meets freshly brewed espresso, peaty smoke and hints of rum-infused raisins
