More information about Eefje
The quince is a largely underrated fruit Quince trees grow in many parts of Germany, but very few people know what to do with the hard, woody fruit Our grandmothers still processed the bright yellow fruit into juice, jam, jelly or slices, but this tradition is slowly disappearing It's a shame, because the quince has a lot to offer in addition to its noble taste The pome fruit scores with a high vitamin C content, provides copper and has a healing effect for all kinds of physical ailments
Our favorite form of quince is definitely beer The Flügge brewery, for example, has a wonderful sour beer that is aged on the golden fruit and has a heavenly quince flavor Flügge's Quitte Riesling Sauerbier Eefje is brewed with regionally sourced Chevallier malt and aged after the brewing process on aromatic Riesling grapes from Rheinhessen and ripe quinces from Wetterau This process refines the beer with the exquisite aromas of quince and grape and gives it a beautiful depth
Eefje comes with a palatable 5.5% alcohol content and presents itself in a delicately cloudy golden hue in the glass A tantalizing aroma of sun-ripened quince, white grapes and orange marmalade rises from the stable, white head The first sip reveals a dry, finely tart and fruity beer with great notes of grape, quince, rhubarb and green gooseberries
