An Italian winery believes there is a risk of confusion due to the name of our rum. The product is therefore only available in a different presentation.
Idea
Since the lively trade relations between the Hanseatic cities and the Caribbean in the 18th century, rum has enjoyed great popularity in northern Germany. However, a genuine rum from the far north of Germany has not existed for a very long time.
The fine spirits manufacturer Feingeisterei, run by the Rohrwasser family, is changing this with its new product: Don R*** Rum is distilled, stored and bottled at Gut Basthorst, around 30 kilometers from the gates of Hamburg. This premium spirit is named after the owner of Gut Basthorst, Enno Freiherr von Ruffin.
Production and storage
Distiller Fabian Rohrwasser processes the molasses imported from South America for Don R*** Rum in a wood-fired copper still. Only the highest quality part of the distillate, the middle run, is stored in American and French oak barrels and, for the finish, in a sherry barrel. Small casks ensure a quick and intensive maturation process.
The amber-colored triple wood rum has an alcohol content of 43.0% vol. The bottles are individually numbered and signed.
Expertise
Two different types of wood give Don R*** Rum a versatile character: American oak provides fine aromas of vanilla, crème brûlée and caramelized almonds. The French oak is responsible for the underlying complexity, which is characterized by subtle tobacco notes. The fruitiness from the molasses is preserved by the gentle aromatic production and accentuated by the sherry cask finish with a palate-flattering sweetness.
The 100% certified organic Don R*** rum is opulent on the nose and strong on the palate.
